A beautiful room with a beautiful view…

This stunning space had not yet been built when our clients asked for our help. The long room on the plans we worked from needed to function as a kitchen, dining and living area for a busy family of six (eight if you count the two furry friends) to eat, relax and most importantly, spend time together. The amazing sea view - framed by the Apex window - needed to be centre stage.

Our clients were keen to avoid a kitchen island and also to retain the traditional press in the original part of the house; the solution…a corner layout which maximises surface area and provides shelving space above.

The modern range is housed in the original fireplace and allows for retention of another original feature; the mantle. A sliding door at the back of the kitchen maximises floor space in the adjacent utility room.

The space is split into three with gentle, visual dividers; the work top, the table (recycled and reused) and the the corner section of the sofa. The effect is three distinct areas, united by colour and flooring, which flow as one. Simple but iconic…

The effect is three distinct areas, united by colour and flooring, which flow as one. Simple but iconic lighting was selected to avoid distractions from the view.

The seating area had to accommodate the whole family, whilst making the most of the beautiful sea view. This particular sofa was sourced for its ample storage, which hides children’s toys at the end of each day.
